Yes, we feel the need to have a job claim to keep everything realistic. (And so we don't have fifty riding instructors and no stable hands or something crazy like that!) The job claim is also used to keep tabs on the ages of applicants. All jobs have a set age by them, so if you character is younger than that age they can't have the job. Pretty simple right?
The jobs that are currently up and have not been claimed are the ones your new character may have. If all it says is "head eventing instructor" and there are no spots for just an "eventing instructor" then we are just looking for the head, you got it? If the job you want your character to have is currently taken do what real people do, get another job and wait until a spot opens up.
Sorry, there is no reserving a job. First character accepted gets it. To claim a job post in this thread with the characters fist and last name, properly capitalized with the job you want. Post a claim after the character has been accepted To get a job in the other section just do the same and we'll put it right up.
Characters may have more than one job, as long as it stays realistic. Just claim them all when you place your claims.
Finally, if a job is at admin discretion then you must have the job in the occupation section of the application and it will be accepted along with the character. If you do not do this before the character is accepted then the only way to get that job to to role play with a current stable manager and talk it out in character.
