HORSES
You may only ride a horse that you have permission to ride, whether it is from the owner or designated care giver. If you are in a lesson then you will ride the horse assigned to you. If there is a reason that you cannot ride that horse, then you will need to take it up with your trainer. All horses are only to be ridden in their assigned tack (the tack they are pictured in, if not pictured in tack use common sense). Boots and polo wraps are only to be used when needed for each particular horse. If a horse is ever ridden or handled in a way that is unsafe then the stable owner, horse care giver, or any stable instructor has the right to pull the rider. Examples of unsafe riding/handling include riding a horse for too long, jumping higher than the horse is comfortable with, pushing a young horse too far, etc. Consequences for the rider are at the discretion of the above individuals. A loss of riding rights with the exception of lessons is possible.
SAFETY
Everyone under the age of twenty-one must wear a helmet each and every time that they ride, however it is encouraged that everyone wears a helmet. No one under the age of twenty-one may jump without someone over twenty-one present, and no one under twenty-one may go out on the trails (including cross country) alone. If anyone is doing anything that is considered unsafe then the owner of the stable or horse has the right to pull the rider from their ride. No one under twenty-one may ever handle a stallion, with or without care giver consent.
HOURS
Anyone can be at the stable at anytime. However, the tack rooms are locked between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am. Anyone younger than twenty-one must make sure to always adhere to the above rules.
CHECKING OUT
If you go anywhere on a horse you do not own you must “check the horse out”. This means that you must note on the clip board attached to the horse’s stall the following information: where you went, when you left, and what time you plan to be back.
OTHER
Even if the horse is your horse the people in power at the stable have the right to pull you from your ride if you are being unsafe or cruel to your horse. This is for the safety of the horse. If such actions continue the stable reserves the right to require you to remove your horse from the stable grounds.
