appearance. He has blond hair that he normally keeps longish. The length that he is comfortable with is earlobe length, though he will crop it short near summertime. He hates it getting in his way when he is working with horses so he almost always has it in tied back or in a braid, which he does himself. His eyebrows and lashes are a darker golden color and very thick. There is a large mole on his left cheek. He has a pretty muscular physique, which he likes to keep up with. He is a bit shorter than he would like to be, and one of his biggest flaws is that he cannot seem to muscle-up his chest and abs. His skin is always a bit tanned, a testimony to his western European background and a mix of some native American. His face always has this sad or mad expression, which many people find intimidating. Though it is hard to keep your own eyes away from those brown, puppy dog eyes. He hates his nose in relation to his mouth, thinking the latter is too small for his face and that his nose is too prominent. You know he is having a bad week if he hasn't shaved. His facial hair is the same color as his brows and lashes and can grow pretty long in a short length of time.

personality
likes. Quiet and being alone, running in the morning and evenings during dusk, people who don't talk so much, competition
dislikes. loud noisy people/places, the winter and snow, taking orders as if he were a lower life form, fighting, shallow and meaningless conversations
personality. Jack has always been a difficult person for anyone to understand. Growing up, his parents tried to get him into any sport that he showed interest in. He was good at them for a time, but he felt as though there was too much politics that played out on and off of the fields. So he went through many groups of friends, not being able to hold down a consistent contact for many years, even into high school. He was was the popular kid, if only because he was good looking, but he never had any relationships with the girls the seemed to flock to him because none of them were ever able to keep up with his ever changing interests. He was the quiet brooding one, untouchable in so many ways. He was independent to the point of asocial behavior. The challenge of horse back riding really got his blood flowing. He loved competing, even though the irony of the politics of a barn family really got to him. He was a great student, dedicated to his work with his horses and helping in the barn as much as he could. He was quiet and calm, a good rock for unstable people and equines to latch themselves to.

history. Jackson Ethan Meelly was born in St. Andrews, South Carolina to Olivia, a woman with a strong British accent, and Justin, a budding entrepreneur. Both of his parents were part of a movement to bring more housing and companies into St. Andrews. The family was well off, as Olivia had come from old money. Jacks, as they affectionately called their son, grew up going to a private school in Columbia South Carolina. Right off the bat, they tried to get him into tee-ball, but his interest soon waned and it was a fight to even get him out of the house on days that he had games. Next was a push toward soccer, then baseball, football, and finally track. But none of them tricked his trigger. So Jacks went through many friends on into middle school. He was soon designated as one of the cuter boys, as he grew into his blond looks and his athletic body. Into high school, Jackson was invited to all the parties, but he was not ready to decide what he wanted from life. His parents wanted him to follow in his father's footsteps and become some kind of CEO, and his mother only wanted "what was best for him". In 9th grade, he found out about the world of horses. Starting as a western rider, but moving onto jumpers, Jackson soon found the thrill and challenge he had been looking for. He spent every day at the stable. His mother even offered to buy him his own horse, but Jackson couldn't find one that suited his needs. So he was content to ride other people's horses, training for non-recognized shows that he would go to with his trainer and barn on the weekends. As he neared graduation, he could not find a school that he wanted to go to. Pushing from his parents led to a huge fight where Jackson fled, leaving them in despair. His younger sister, eight years younger, was the only one Jack would talk to after that. She was the one who helped him find Rowanoak, and helped him apply.
riding history. Starting at the beginning of high school, Jacks started lessons. After a year, he started showing in western pleasure shows over the summer. The next year he switched to hunt seat after watching a jumper show one morning. That summer he started showing in itty bitty jumpers and hunter seat flat classes. He never showed in hunter over fences, but excelled in jumpers. He has taken 6 years of classes consistently, and showed in only non-recognized shows.

The golden hairs fell forward only to be caught a moment later by rough tan hands. Yanking the frustrating hair back into place, Jacks growled his frustration. The stupid gelding that had just tossed him off stood maybe about ten feet away, giving him the how'd-ya-get-down-there-look. Leaning back into the fence that he had narrowly missed, Jackson used it as a crutch to help himself off the grass. The gelding swung his head away from his rider and walked off toward the opposite side of the ring. "Hey!" Jacks pushed off from the fence and followed the gray bastard. "Come back here..." He jogged to catch up to Maze. He had been riding the gelding for a friend, well really just an acquaintance, that was away on vacation. His trainer had laughed when she told him it would do him some good to stop riding Cody and change his routine a bit. Now he knew why she had laughed at him. Karen thought she was oh, so funny. Well he could show her just how well he could do on Maze. Now, if only he could catch him. The gelding walked slowly away from Jackson, his head low and mischievous brown eye on him. The blond boy smirked at the horse, knowing exactly what Maze was going to do. He shook his head in acceptance and sighed as he reached out for the rein. The gelding's ears went up and he shied, way out of proportion to the motion Jacks had done. But Jackson held tight, the black leather gloves helping as the gelding balked and tried to rip the rein out of his hand. He shook his head and sighed again, making a low shushing noise in his throat.
When Maze had finally stopped being a baby, Jacks chuckled and pulled the rein from over his neck. He led him back to the mounting block and repositioned the gelding, ready this time for any antics the old boy would do. He stepped up onto the block, flipping the reins over Maze's head and gently putting his hand on the back of the saddle. Left foot into the iron, right leg over the saddle and onto the other side, so far so good. Jacks kept his eye on Maze's ears, slipping his other foot into the iron and settling his butt. Just as always, the gray gelding started his little dance, jigging as Jacks gathered his reins. At least the old boy has some courtesy, not bucking until I have my reins, Jacks thought to himself. He let Maze have his head and gave him a bit of a squeeze to get him trotting. The horse bucked but settled into a tense trot. As Jacks passed the gate to the ring, he noticed his sister standing there, baseball hat on to protect her eyes from the sun. In that second that he looked at her, Maze felt his attention shift. The crafty animal danced sideways, slashing his tail and ducking his head. Jacks gave a startled gasp as Maze pushed his hinds into a hefty buck, throwing Jackson's weight toward the front of his saddle. He grunted, pulling hard on the rein to bring Maze's head up. The gelding's ears shot forward as he realized that this time, Jacks was not going to tolerate this gesture. So the gelding tossed his head up, whipping Jack's arms with his long black mane. "Got it out of your system yet?" Jack grumbled. Hearing giggling from Kaylah, he glanced over, not giving Maze enough time to realize what he was doing. "Not funny, Kay!" He said loud enough for his voice to carry. "Who is this you're riding now? Where is Cody?" He heard her say. Concentrating on keeping Maze's attention on his cue's, Jacks did not respond for a second. "Karen thought... Maze here would be... better for me." He heard her giggle again. "Oh yea, lots better. Two knuckle heads..." She laughed, full and high, her sweet voice making him smile.
