ABOUT LEASING When a student leases a horse that the university has, the student has the opportunity to use that horse and that horse is the leaser's responsibility. The leaser is expected to know the horse well enough to know if something is off or different. While the stable staff will continue to feed the horse, it is the leaser's responsibility to clean the horse's stall if the horse had to be stalled for any reason (remember, all horses with the exception of stallions will be housed outside and should only be stalled for short periods of time unless the horse in injured). The leaser will also be responsible for nursing any injuries the horse may obtain and deworm the horse on a schedule determined by the stable.
In return for this care the leaser has access to ride the horse on their own schedule. The leaser, however, is responsible for knowing when the horse is used by other riders. The horse will still be used in lessons and if the student leasing the horse overworks the horse then they will no longer be allowed to ride. All riding of leased horses must follow stable rules and be okay-ed through the student's riding coach.
TO LEASE Leasing a horse is simple: post in the thread that has the horse's profile with the name of the leaser and the registered name of the horse being leased. Only one person may lease any horse, so check to make sure the space for a leaser is blank before requesting that horse. If the leaser currently listed is inactive you may appeal to the admins. There is a possibility that when requesting a lease you will be given a few suggestions to lease other horses but the decision is ultimately, yours.
DISCIPLINE Generally, a student should lease a horse who's discipline matches the student's main discipline (the one they wish to go pro in). There are times when this will not always be followed, but this will be taken up on an individual basis. If there is not a horse of your character's discipline available for lease, politely PM the admins and one will be added as soon as we get off our lazy butts to do so. You may not ask for anything special in the horse, except their discipline, and you may not ask for a horse if there is a horse of that discipline available.
CHANGING LEASE A student may change the horse they lease at any time. Simply post in both the old and the new horse's thread and explain that there is a change that you would like to make. The new horse has to be without a leaser. This will most often happen when the student changes levels or new horses are added.
