appearancebreed. American Warmblood height. 16.2 hh color. Chestnut Pinto markings. Pinto, blaze historydiscipline. Jumpers, dressage, beginners eventing NCAA? Upper level flat and jumping sire. Unsharpened Blade dam. Calico Kitten personality and history. Getting his coloring from his mother, Squire is quite the site to see in the show ring and has always managed to take the interest from his fellow competitors. To add to his amazing coloring, Squire is often pointed out how much he takes it all to heart. He really wants to try his hardest; however, there are times in which he tries too hard. He’s known to rush a little too much between fences and over jump just a tad to avoid knocking down rails. He’s also so in tuned to his rider’s wishes that he often makes up that a command was given, which has proven troublesome in the dressage ring. That, however, will all be fixed in time. Squire is quite a young animal, obviously, with plenty of time to get his bearings about him. After seeing Squire at a show Damian knew that the animal had much more potential than the young rider on his back was capable of bringing him to. He offered to train the horse, which was accepted, but it wasn’t long after the training had begun that the rider’s parents decided he was too much horse for the daughter and they needed to downsize. Here Damian got his chance and bought Squire for much less than he was actually worth, even at the time. Damian trained and showed the gelding for a couple years before the accident but he couldn’t bear to part with his prospect so now has promising students climb aboard. owner. Damian Lancing leaser. appearancebreed. Thoroughbred height. 16.3 hh color. Bay markings. Star, front right pastern, two back socks historydiscipline. Eventing NCAA? All flat, upper level jumping sire. Seattle Slew dam. Heartened Words personality and history. Donna is the child of the famous Seattle Slew. As many would guess, she started her career as a race horse, but never even won a race so was retired shortly after her fourth birthday. From there she was sent to a trainer who quickly decided to try the horse in eventing, a world she excelled in from the start. While she is still slightly on the lazy side she’ll pick up the speed when a good rider asks it of her, but her best event will always be dressage. She is very responsive to the rider’s commands and has done well in small and large shows in the area. For a while Donna bounced from rider to rider, owner to owner, which all horse people know is simply the life of a show horse. She picked things up as she went and is still a very well behaved animal, both on the ground and in the saddle. Finally, one girl grew out of Donna and needed a different horse, but she couldn’t bear to send her beloved mare away to someone she didn’t know. Instead, she donated Donna to her college, Rowanoak University, where she lives happily, and as a favorite horse to the advanced riders, to this day. owner. Rowanoak University leaser. appearancebreed. Canadian Warmblood height. 16.1 hh color. Bay markings. None historydiscipline. Jumper NCAA? Upper level flat and jumping sire. Wonderland dam. Psychic Premonitions personality and history. Hugo is a joy to have around any stable. He is well behaved both on ground and under saddle and is also great to show. While he prefers being out on pasture, as all horses do, he handles well in a stall. The only issue that Hugo has is that his mouth is so hard that he can’t be ridden in any bit. Instead, he is used with a hackamore, which he does very well in with the right rider. He also has a fear of shadows, but this is countered with a shadow roll when he is ridden and there is no other issue. Hugo’s old owner is the cause of his hard mouth. She was a young rider who thought she could train her own horse. However, whenever she had any issue with him pulling all she did was throw a harder bit into his mouth, causing him to bulk even more. In the end, she sold him because she didn’t know how to deal with the fear of shadows and that made him unable to show. He was bounced around a little bit before his current owner asked Damian and finally diagnosed his problem with shadows. Hugo was then donated to Rowanoak when his owner was hit by the recession, but she did want Hugo to go to somewhere with someone who knew his worth and she knew Damian would train people well on him. owner. All levels flat, novice jumping sire. Dutch and Coming (Dutch Wamblood) dam. Being So Sweet (Dutch Harness Horse) personality and history. Ruby is on exceptional mare. From the time she hit the ground she was imprint trained and trained to walk on a halter and her training never stopped. She went straight into dressage training and excelled in every step. She's gentle and responsive, a horse you never have to ask twice. She rounds up easily and almost automatically works on the bit, a horse any dressage rider would love to get their hands on. One day, however, her trainer was taking her out on a nice, easy trail for a cool down when Ruby was spooked by a deer. The trainer was thrown and he watched as Ruby ran off, riderless, and over a four foot tall fence, with almost perfect jumping form. There was no going back from there. However, the trainer only knew dressage so Ruby was sent to Damian. Not long after, however, Damian had his injury and he then allowed his best riders a chance at the mare to see what they could bring of such a snatch. owner. Rowanoak University leaser. appearancebreed. Belgian Warmblood X Percheron height. 16.1 hh color. gray markings. slightly flea bitten, snip historydiscipline. hunter NCAA? Lower levels flat, all levels jumping sire. Abracadabra dam. Fairest One personality and history. Though slightly stubborn, Mack is a great horse. With a soft mouth and smooth transitions, he’s fun to ride once you can get him going. He can, however, be slightly difficult to get going and a spur in his side is often the only thing that will ever get him to give a flying lead change. He is a pleasure to jump, however, and very scopey, though tends to chip in if you don’t push him forward at the take off. Mack was bred in the hopes of getting an eventer out of the cross with his parents; however, he got too much of his father’s blood and was too big boned for the eventing world. He was sold to a trainer, who messed around with ideas for the gelding for a while before figuring out Mack still had a great jump and started to train him in hunter. Due to the fact that the horse didn’t rush at a fence and kept a very steady, easy to feel pace, he made a great horse for many-a-riders in the years to come. When Mack was twelve he was bought by Damian as a horse to teach hunter riding on and is doing very well at his job. The perfect show horse, Mack really puts meaning into "you can't ride a pedigree". owner. Damian Lancing leaser.

appearancebreed. Paint height. 15.1 hh color. Chestnut markings. White face, back stockings historydiscipline. equitation, still testing NCAA? Upper levels flat sire. Scarecly Spotted dam. Waterlogged personality and history. Splash is from a great line of paints. Her bloodline is second to none and both her sire and dam were amazing show horses. Sadly, our young lady here has yet to meet her true potential. When she was a yearling she was sold to a family with a young girl who wanted a paint. Of course, the mostly solid Splash wasn’t what she had in mind, but the family kept the filly anyway. The girl’s father broke her the only way he knew how. Well, the filly did learn quickly and well, and has manners not often seen in a young horse, the training side of everything was lacking. Sure, she has always accepted weight on her back, but a pull on the reins or a squeeze of the legs are still slightly confusing signals to her, especially after three years of doing next to nothing but stand and graze as a lawn ornament. Soon the young girl grew up and grew out of horses and when the economy started going downhill the family donated the gentle horse to the university, where a good rider who is patient enough to work with a green horse could possibly get the best out of her and her trying attitude. owner. Nile Queen personality and history. People will tell you that there really isn’t much to say about Whiskey, which is actually more annoying than anything else because it just means the horse isn’t always predictable. He’s well behaved, but may act up and he’s gentle but may lash out. A pleasure to ride he can sometimes be spooked by the most random things and being an NCAA horse is a good thing for him because he never has to leave the stable in order to show because getting him into a trailer is an all day task, which may also be why he never set foot on a race tract. Due to his young age, Whiskey is not yet jumping too high and wouldn’t be able to keep up with the stresses being an open level horse would require. Whiskey is owned by a nice middle aged, working woman who doesn’t have the time to ride him as often as he needs to be ridden so allows the riding team to use him on days in which she will not be able to make it down to see him. Whiskey’s leaser will have to work closely with this woman in order to be able to continue riding him. owner. Rita Harsland leaser.

Classically Clueless personality and history. Indie is the son of Adamantium, a westphalian that was known to do very well in the sport of eventing. Now the gelding is working on making a name for himself, but a few bumps have appeared along the way. Well he has had amazing trainers Indie still has issues he needs to work through. One of the most obvious of these issues is Indie’s tendency to over jump, and not just over jump but over jump hard. He has unseated many-a-good riders with this little habit and that is what has taken him down a couple levels, most notably from intermediate to novice level. It doesn’t matter how high you put the jumps, he will still jump them bigger than he has so when you put the jumps higher it makes me all the harder to ride. He does need a firm hand and a confident rider, but isn’t all that difficult to handle. He is also great on the ground, but he has been worked with and poked and prodded since he hit the ground at Jackson Training Center. From there he was worked with and broke and trained well before they decided he needed a little extra work before he could start what they hope will be a promising show career like his father. owner. appearancebreed. Appendix height. 15.3 hh color. Brown markings. star, snip, two back socks, front left fetlock historydiscipline. Jumper NCAA? Upper level flat sire. Democracy Reigns dam. Branched Olive (tb) personality and history. Ally is a horse few people would call their favorite. Beyond her horrible ground manners where biting isn’t out of the question and kicking when you stand behind her is only her favorite pastime, she is also the boss of the pasture, and not the type of boss that will simply pin her ears and let everyone know she’s staying where she is, but the type that will run other horses off the waterers on a hot summer day only to stand by them and avoid drinking. While a fairly nice horse under saddle, she also has her problems there. One of these is her incredibly odd jump. She almost seems to bunny hop and this keeps her from ever being a hunter. She just takes off too close to the jump and many worry about this and worry she will hurt herself. She also pulls at your hands and never really wants to slow down, often at the expense of a rail or two. She was produced by an older woman who wanted her thoroughbred mare to have a foal, however, she soon discovered she couldn’t really afford both horses with her failing health and sold Ally after some minor breaking and training to a teenage girl who wanted a horse to work with. The girl, however, really messed up some of the mare’s training. When the girl left for college she donated Ally to the university so the mare could be kept at her old barn. She is still being worked with to fix some of the bad habits both her previous owners allowed her to obtain, but she’s getting there and may make a great horse with the right rider. owner. All level flat, lower level fences sire. Storyteller (tb) dam. First N' Done personality and history. Ah, the fat, little not-quite pony. Fairy is a very “been there, done that” horse. She’s well behaved, but does have her quirks, including an intense hatred of having her girth tightened. Riders have to make sure her head is kept still when they put her saddle on or prepare to have a large bite placed in their side, and don’t you dare forget to put her martingale on because you’ll never get the girth back on once it was removed. Though on the larger and older side, Fairy is not lazy but doesn’t rush either. She’s laid back and not very spooky, but doesn’t like vehicles very much, so that is something to watch out for. Being hunter trained she’s highly adjustable and only jumps as high as she has to in order to clear the obstacle and her mouth is quite soft, making her a joy to ride. For quite a few years, Fairy moved around from owner to owner before finding herself as a lesson horse in a barn near Rowanoak University. When the barn went under due to the growing popularity of the barn used by the university students she was donated to the university’s riding team. owner. Rowanoak University leaser. appearancebreed. Arabian height. 13.3 hh color. Chestnut markings. Four stockings, blaze historydiscipline. Hunter NCAA? All levels flat, lower levels fences sire. Gameen Askari dam. Cactus Flower personality and history. Born to a sire who was renowned for his exceptional standard of the breed, Handsome had high hopes set on him by his dam's parents. His dam, however, was mediocre at best and, of course, the young colt got his dam’s side of the blood lines and came out unable to go far with anything. Nearly disgusted, the young colt was gelded and sold to a trainer. The horse stayed there until he was old enough to break and once that was completed he was sold again, this time to a teenage girl who was determined to train the horse herself. While, in time, the gelding was able to jump well, she pushed the young horse too far and he developed arthritis young. When the first girl went off to college Handsome was put into the care of her younger sister, who also rode and jumped until she outgrew him and needed a horse that could go over higher obstacles, because Handsome basically maxed out at 2’6”. Handsome bounced around a little bit before coming into the care of a young girl who loves him dearly. However, this young girl also has little time to ride so allows her gelding to be used by the university students. Handsome is a favorite in shows due to his laid back attitude, but he is an Arabian so be prepared for moments of sassiness coming from his small package. He jumps well, though does have a slightly odd feel to his gait, making his canter difficult to sit. owner. Molly Persing leaser.

The Golden Touch dam. An Exotic Treasure personality and history. Okay, fine, not the most creative stable name for a wall-eyed horse, but what barn would be complete without a horse named after a color? Anyway, blue will one day make an amazing horse and is already a great ride, but at the time he is just too young to deal with the stresses of being a open, or even intermediate horse… or pony, as the case may be. Either way, for now he will be happy to sit on the novice team and show off his athletic ability. Blue is fun to ride, however, he is young and like any young horse does have his vices. Ridden in a martingale due to the habit of throwing his head he also will buck randomly while cantering and tends to try and rush though lines and also likes to run out, to the right though, never to the left. Still, with a little more work he will make an amazing NCAA horse. The Rowanoak University Equestrian Team came into possession of Blue after he was in a bad accident. He was brought to a neighboring vet due to pulling skin off his leg out at pasture and the owner didn’t have the money to pay for the vet fees. However, the vet had a soft spot for the horse and instead of putting him down he was nursed back to health and then donated where he has been trained up to where he is today. owner.
