appearance. Colin stands around six foot two. He has a medium sized build, and he weighs around one hundred and eighty seven pounds. His weight fluctuates very often due to the seasons. So usually he’s a bit heftier after winter. Out of habit, Colin tends to work out regularly if he’s not busy with riding or school. It’s easy to tell when he has been working out, because his body overall just looks healthy. Naturally, he has pale skin. And no matter how much time he spends outside, Colin can’t get tanned.
His face has a nice shape, his chin being the most defined feature of it all. Colin’s chin is almost square, but has that little bit of roundness. He seems to have nice straight set teeth, but that was achieved through years of wearing braces and a retainer. His nose is a tad bit crooked due to a facial injury years ago. And this bothers Colin a lot, since he’s always been self-conscious of his nose. Colin’s eyes are light blue in color, and have fairly long eyelashes. His hair is light brown in color, along with his eye brows. The majority of the time, he likes to keep his hair nice and short. He thinks it’s easier to take care of that way.
Colin is usually up to date when it comes to trendy clothing. His everyday outfit can consist of a nice clean shirt and a tidy pair of blue jeans. He absolutely hates shorts, but will wear them for swimming. Apparently, shorts should only be worn by women, but that’s his father’s words not his.

personality. Colin is an out-going type of person. He’s the type of person who isn’t afraid to ask another person to dance. Even though his mother had died when he was young, he never lets it bring him down. He knows that wherever she is that she’s proud of her son. He was brought up to be polite, and non-judgemental towards other people. And he usually is unless he has been impaired in anyway. Colin loves to chat with other people, and to be surrounded by others. Long conversations are always nice once in a while.
He is a very smart young man, and can keep steady grades even in the most hectic of times. His favourite class happens to be English, and he excels very well in that area. But unfortunately Colin can be a bit of a smart ass.
Colin is a very nice person. He also happens to be very thoughtful, and caring. He can be almost anyone’s best friend, but only if you let him.

history. March sixteenth, nineteen ninety one. Colin Thomas was the first born child of Alison and Owen Greene. At that time, the Greene’s were living in Louisville Kentucky. They lived on a little old hobby farm, with a little red barn and a few pastures. Life was pretty much uneventful that is until his sister was born. Colin was only four at the time, and wanted a little brother. He was a bit disappointed when Mom brought home a little sister, Noelle Alison . But he eventually grew to like her.
At age five, Colin was off to school. He never really had one special friend, but he was willing to play with anyone who wanted to play with him. Life then was fun, and very simple. That was until the year 1999. His mom had been killed in a car accident. At the age of eight, it was too confusing to understand and it didn’t help either that his father hadn’t explained what happened in the accident. All he knew that his mother wasn’t coming home from the grocery store that day. During that summer, Owen sold the small hobby farm and moved to Lexington with his children. Just in time for his son to start grade four, and his daughter to start school.
School life in Lexington wasn’t as great as it was in Louisville. Although he wasn’t rejected by anyone, he had fewer friends here than he had back at his old school. Of course, he missed his mother a lot. But he never let it bring him down. At that time, Colin (age 9) and Noelle(age 5) began taking riding lessons together. Although Colin decided to continue on with his lessons, Alison decided she wanted to do something else that didn’t include stinky animals.
In high school, Colin never really had any trouble balancing his school work with riding. He had also missed a lot of school, but was always able to catch up before the end of a term. Considering he had braces, Colin had a few more friends now. But in the long run, these friends didn’t turn out to be real friends at all. They soon had pressured him into drinking alcohol, and soon enough he was beginning to do things that normally he wouldn’t do. Back then, Colin got into a Noelle was the one who had to pull her brother into an intervention.
After becoming clean, Colin had got a job. Riding was still a big part of his life, and it was now harder to complete school assignments. Remarkably, he never failed a class. In 2009, Colin graduated high school. For the longest time he worked at his local stable, so that he could pay of the lease fees of the horse he was riding at the time.
Two years after competing in jumpers, he had decided to pursue in his secondary education. He found out about Rowanoak University through one of the coaches at his stable.
riding history. Colin started riding a bit later than most others. It was in the year 2000 that he had begun taking lessons with his little sister Noelle. Unlike his little sister, Colin had enjoyed his lessons and decided to continue on with them. The first pony he ever rode was a bay welsh cob named King. He was the horse that had taught the young boy his basics in riding. The gelding was calm and easy to control, and a bit lazy. But that never bothered Colin. King was an excellent all-around beginner’s mount, and was just right for teaching little ones the ropes. The first ever show that Colin had ever competed in was a fun show at his stable. It was held annually to introduce new riders to the show ring, without the stress of leaving the home area. He didn’t enter very many classes, but he did participate in walk/trot equitation, and a hunter line course. And that was all it took. Colin had enjoyed his first experience in a show, and he craved more. But there was so little that the stable could do, for they weren’t a showing type of stable. He was suggested to move on to a new barn, one that actually went to rated shows.
Colin left in the fall of 2001, as a 10 year old boy. He moved onto a big show stable, where they had specialized in hunters, jumpers and equitation. His coach was a seasoned veteran in mainly hunters and had competed in equitation when she was younger. She was a strict on equitation, and was one who strived for perfection when it came to posture. At first, Colin was intimidated, but soon afterwards began striving for that same perfection as his coach did. He began lessons at his new barn on Dutch Warmblood mare who they called Duchess. She was no more than 15.2 hand high, but was a bit of a snob. During that summer, Colin began competing regularly. Slowly, he moved up in the great American circuit as a regular equitation rider. He didn’t enjoy equitation very much, but stuck to it to make his father and his coach happy. Around 2008, he switched over to hunters for a brief period of time. As he had grown, he had to switch horses a few times until he found one that was big enough for him. He had only competed one summer in the hunter ring, but Colin had enjoyed it nonetheless. After graduating high school, he applied to work at his stable as a stable hand. He took the job so that he could start paying the lease on a new horse, a very tall thoroughbred cross named Quiet Water. Her name was not fitting at all, because that horse had terrible ground manners and was a bit harder to control than other horses. Colin had chosen the mare more or less as a challenge to himself. He also added to that challenge by switching from hunters to jumpers, more or less for the sake of his horse. For two years, Colin was able to compete in jumpers before deciding to head on out for his secondary education.

sample.Today would be just like any other day. It was five thirty in the morning, and Colin was needed at the barn at six. The daily routine of waking up early eventually had grown tiring on the young adult. But it was all for the better.
The money was needed to pay for the board of an excellent thoroughbred cross mare. Her name was Quiet Water, which didn’t at all match the mare’s personality. She should have been named Cobra, or Beast. Something else that would describe her personality. Although she was ill-tempered, the mare wasn’t that bad of a horse. Her ground manners were terrible, but not so much under saddle. She was still feisty and had a lot of energy and forward drive. The mare didn’t like to be controlled, just like her rider. She hated the precision and controlled pace of the hunter ring. She also didn’t enjoy having her mane braided. But why the hell had Colin chosen to ride this horse?
It was now six forty five, and Colin had been on his way to the stable. Today, he would be de-worming the horses. The task was a handful, and usually afterward the handlers were left with scratches and bruises from the horses. Dropped applesauce and molasses would stain the great cobblestone, but it would soon be washed away either by the rain or a stable hand. When he had pulled into the parking lot, he could see people bringing in their horse’s for the morning feed.
Colin would admit that he preferred hunters more than jumpers. But it wasn’t until he started to ride Quiet Water that he became a jumper. This mare he rode had so much potential. Her form was beautiful going over almost any jump, but her need for speed tended to get in the way. The Beast was usually well behaved in competitions, but she always had rushed herself at the fences. Maybe it was the energy from the crowd, or the excitement she absorbed from Colin. Anyone could ride this horse and succeed. It’s just that too many riders are scared of her.
He walked into the stable’s tack room. In front of him, there were what seemed to be millions of boxes of de-wormer. All were apple flavoured. But even when this paste was disguised with the taste of sweet apple, some horses remained unconvinced. So there were packages of apple sauce and a tub of molasses to mask up the sticky paste. Colin looked at the white board. It listed a whole bunch of horses. Each groom was assigned a certain amount of horses that were to be de-wormed. Of course Colin was assigned his ill-tempered mare. He went to the mare’s stall, and led her out with a lead rope. Quiet Water’s ears were laying flat against her head, a clear sign of her un-amusement. Another groom brought out a syringe, filled with the medical paste and apple sauce. He held the mare’s head, and pried open her mouth. The syringe had been aimed at the back of her mouth, and it shot out the yucky paste. She shook her head in response, but didn’t dare try to spit out what she had ingested.
“Good girl,” he coaxed, rubbing the mare’s forehead.
